Overview

Intercollegiate programs are defined as interdisciplinary academic programs that require involvement of faculty in two or more colleges in developing and assessing program learning outcomes and curriculum (Faculty-Staff Handbook (FSH) 1640.94). These programs draw upon the faculty expertise, courses, and resources of more than one college and are jointly administered, maintained, and promoted by those participating units. Intercollegiate programs are designed to better equip students for a fast-changing, complex environment by offering multidisciplinary, innovative education and research that integrate multifaceted knowledge and expertise. They also contribute to enhancing collaborative culture across academic units and colleges, aligning academic offerings with workforce and industry needs, and promoting innovative and collaborative research. Intercollegiate programs support flexible pathways for learning and emphasize real-world problem-solving directly relevant to adult learners.

Intercollege Curriculum Committee (ICC)

The Intercollege Curriculum Committee (ICC) was established in 2025 to promote collaboration, transparency, and consistency in curriculum review and approval for intercollegiate programs, in accordance with Faculty-Staff Handbook (FSH) 1640.94. For each intercollegiate program, a Working Group (WG), consisting of representatives from participating colleges and academic units, should be established. WGs are responsible for developing, maintaining, and assessing their programs. The ICC guides WGs to effectively collaborate with participating units and serves as the intermediate curriculum change approval committee between the WGs and the University Curriculum Committee (UCC), analogous to the role of college curriculum committees for programs within individual departments or colleges.

Members of the ICC are appointed by the Faculty Senate and are constituted of one representative faculty member from each college except Graduate Studies; one undergraduate student selected by ASUI and one graduate student; the Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives serves as an ex officio, non-voting committee member.
